Mr. Basso is a Project Manager and Senior Policy Analyst at Abrams Learning & Information Systems, Inc (ALIS). He specializes in strategic and operational interagency planning; curriculum development; program development; and leadership development. John has developed and provided instruction focused on leader development, homeland security planning, critical reasoning and creative thinking skills, and the Incident Command System (ICS). Prior to joining ALIS in September 2010, Mr. Basso was the Professor of Military Science at the University of Kansas where he directed the leader development program. He served in the US Army for more than 20 years, and led interagency and joint military planning teams during two deployments to Iraq. During his last deployment, he authored the interagency strategic plan for five provinces in southern Iraq. Mr. Basso directed the train the trainer program for new instructors in the Department of Social Sciences at the US Military Academy in 2001 and 2002. He has delivered lectures on strategic planning, innovation, and critical thinking at Princeton University and MIT and is the author of several published articles on national security concerns.
